Organization and format of the conference

The organization of SISTAM 2010 “The First South American Spring Symposium in Signal Transduction and Molecular Medicine” will be led by the co-organizers J. Silvio Gutkind (NIDCR – NIH), Roger Davis and Lucio H Castilla (University of Massachusetts Medical School), together with Adali Pecci and Omar A. Coso (University of Buenos Aires – Argentina).

Scientific Sessions

English will be chosen as the official language for the meeting with no translation services being offered. Approximately a dozen workshops or sessions will be conducted throughout the meeting. These will combine 40-minute talks from invited speakers with one or two short talks delivered by junior students. Invited speakers are encouraged to present novel discoveries from their laboratories while students will present the most recent update of their research project.

Poster Sessions

There will be three poster sessions on October 25th, 26th and 27th after dinner. Posters will be displayed during the entire event in order to facilitate interactions between attendees even during daybreaks, at breakfast time or anytime. We understand this fact will allow investigators, students and post-docs to present and discuss their research projects in detail with leaders in the field.

Authors of a selected number of poster presentations will be invited to deliver a short oral presentation as part of one of the workshops in addition to presenting the data as a poster. Selection of outstanding material to be included as short talks in the sessions will be carried out by the scientific committee.
